This book was first published as a series in the A Witness and a Testimony magazines in 1948-1950. The Chapters represented a series of Conference Messages (as spoken). T. Austin-Sparks subsequently added a Foreword, and the book was published by Witness & Testimony Publishers in 1954. The book was republished in 1973 by the Witness and Testimony Literature Trust and even later by Emmanuel Church, from which this version is taken.
